Krause leaves the competition years behind with the introduction
of the all new 4990 Series Tandem Disc Harrows. It's a
medium weight tandem that's built so rugged, it compares to
other manufacturer's "heavy" series discs. Selecting
a 4990 Series disc to meet the exact needs of your operation
is easy. With 27-35 1/2 ft. working widths, choice of 8"
or 9 1/8" blade spacing, numerous blade options and standard
or Rock-Flex protected models, a Krause 4990 can meet all
your discing needs from precise chemical incorporation to
slicing thro8ugh the toughest crop residues. If conservation
tillage practices are a part of your operating plan, a 4990
with 22" blades on 9 1/8" spacing working 3"
deep in untilled cornstalks can leave 50% or more residue.
The 4990 features an all new extra heavy-duty welded steel
frame that puts an average of 410 lbs. per foot of cut to
work on your toughest tillage challenges. Three-section
Flex-Wing design, overlapping disc gangs, self-leveling hydraulic
tongue and single location depth control are just a few of
the features that make the 4990 one of the most versatile
tools you can own.
4990 Series wing frame design places the wing support wheels
closer to the end of the gang beams to protect against gouging
in terraced or rolling land. X-braced design and a heavy
welded steel frame provides immense strength for years of
service. Inner front-to-rear frame beams are 4" x 5"
x 1/4" structural steel tubing, outer front-to-rear beams
are 4" x 6" x 3/8". The 4990's heavy-duty construction
distributes cutting weight evenly across the disc, eliminating
the need for expensive hydraulic wing hold down mechanisms
some manufacturers offer to keep the wings level.
Rock-Flex bearing standards equip all 4990 Series discs. Invented
by Krause in 1965, Rock-Flex bearing standards absorb shock
from rocks and extend disc blade and bearing life. Rock-Flex
bearing standards also provide improved residue clearance.
Another time and money-saving feature is the Krause extension
spool used on the furrow filler blades. In the event of contact
with a tree or fence post, the bolt-on extension spool can
break away, eliminating the need for an expensive tie-rod
or bearing standard replacement. Tapered discs and furrow
filler blades on rear gangs result in a level, ridge-free
field finish. |

Massive hitch is over 7 ft. long for unrestricted turning.
The superbly engineered, self-leveling hydraulic hitch is
standard equipment on all 4990 Series discs. What's more,
you have the choice of plumbing the tongue cylinder direct
to a third hydraulic spool on your tractor to provide cab
controlled on-the-go front-to-rear leveling. This feature
is handy when constantly varying soil types require frequent
leveling changes. The rugged ductile iron tongue bolts into
masive 3/4-inch thick welded steel plates to create a hitch
that can take years of aggressive use.
|
Single location remote depth control, conveniently
located at the front of the disc, makes it easier than ever
to fine tune depth adjustments. This system allows the
4990 to return to the same depth after each pass. You'll appreciate
this easy to use feature that lets you make working depth
changes in a matter of seconds. A convenient hydraulic transport
lock valve is located next to the remote depth control adjustment.

| The 4990's massive main frame imparts enormous
strength and rigidity to let you work deep in the toughest
conditions. Center front-to-rear beams are 4" x 6"
x 3/8" structural steel tubing. Outer center frame front-to-rear
members are 4" x 6" x 1/4". Main frame corners
are gusseted top and bottom for even more strength. |
New rocker shaft design features hydraulic lift cylinders
that act directly on the wheel arms, reducing frame stress
and torsion. Rocker shafts on the 4990 mount from two frame
beams, rather than one like other makes, for added strength
and resistance to "twisting". Wing frame leveling
is accomplished with handy "eye-bolts" - one on
each wing. Wing wheels are positioned close to the front gangs
and rotate forward in the working position to improve depth
control and protect against gouging in soft conditions. Big
10.00 x 15" 8-ply tires are standard on the 4990. |
