Krause’s innovative use of massive 6-5/8” roller axles eliminates the need for troublesome middle gang bearings on Flex-Wing Models, and eliminates the “skip” in the tilled soil due to the space taken by the middle gang bearing.  The 6-5/8” diameter roller axles are up to twice as strong as the 4” diameter axles use on competitive models.  Rigid Model sizes 16’ & 18’, utilize a dual bearing center hanger, and is more easily serviced compared to single bearing center hangers.

Transport wheels clear the soil by several inches eliminating wheel tracks in the seedbed.  Front and rear gangs may be set to overlap, so there are no unworked strips, even when flexing over uneven ground.

Tongue Leveling Link

The 4400 Flex-Wing Models feature a tongue leveling link for quick and easy field adjustments.  The adjustment link eliminates the need for time-consuming “shim” type adjustments.

Telescoping Tongue

Models 28’-36’ have an extendable tongue to enable tighter turns when the unit is pulled behind a tillage implement.  The telescoping tongue increases tongue length from 13’ 4” to 18’4”.  The tongue may be retracted for road transport or more convenient equipment storage.

SuperSeal Bearings

Krause SuperSeal regreasable bearings are standard on all 4400 Packer axles to ensure long life and rugged durability.  Since there are no middle gang bearings on Flex-Wing Models, SuperSeal bearings can be easily removed from the gang for servicing without disassembling the gangs, a time and labor saving feature you’ll be sure to appreciate.

Transport Lock

For added safety, an automatic transport lock is standard on all 4400 Flex-Wing Models.  The lock automatically engages when the left wing is folded.  The lock in disengaged when the wings are completely unfolded.  A single hydraulic control operates all functions on the packers.  A manual lock is standard on rigid models.  

Reversible Scrapers

The scrapers allow operation in wetter, “sticky” soil conditions widening the window of operation.  The scrapers are adjustable and can be reversed for twice the service life of non-serviceable scrapers.

Ductile Cast Packer Wheels

Krause utilizes ductile iron wheels for all its packers.  This provides excellent durability in rocky conditions, and decreases maintenance of the packer gang.

4400 “V” Packers feature 22-3/8” diameter by 1-3/4” wide “V” packer wheels on 7-1/4” spacing.  The “V” shaped packer wheels create a “corrugated” field finish to fight wind erosion in sandy soils.  Shafts are 1-1/2” diameter alloy and utilize SuperSeal bearings.

Flex-Wing Design

The 4400 Flex-Wing design allows the packer wings to follow field contours and are capable of flexing downward to 6° and upward to 45°.
